Message From The Director
On behalf of the Board of Management, staff, and the entire Koibatek Agricultural Training Centre (KATC) fraternity, I warmly welcome you to our great institution. Thank you for taking the time to visit our website.
At KATC, we are dedicated to generating and disseminating cutting-edge agricultural technologies, innovations, and best practices. We provide hands-on demonstrations, mentorship, and coaching to farmers, students, and the wider public, ensuring that knowledge and skills are effectively shared for sustainable agricultural development.
Our institution carries a proud legacy spanning more than 60 years. Established in 1964 as Narossura Agricultural Mechanisation Centre, it was later renamed Baringo Farmers Training Centre in 1972, before assuming its current name, Koibatek Agricultural Training Centre, with the advent of devolution in 2013.
We remain committed to empowering communities, enhancing food security, and nurturing future generations of agricultural leaders.
About KATC
Koibatek Agricultural Training Centre is one of the 27 ATCs in Kenya and is situated in Eldama Ravine Sub County in Baringo County.
KATC was started in 1972 when the Government acquired 500 acres of land from the White settlers through British Grants IDA (International Development Agency). Construction started in 1973 and was completed in 1975. ATCs were started after the launching of the Swynnerton plan in the 1950s whose objective was intensification of African agriculture.KATC was devolved to County Government of Baringo in 2014 under the department of Agriculture, Livestock and Blue Economy.
The institution has two main sections; school and the farm. The school has training & conference, catering and accommodation facilities. It also has the on-farm and demonstration plots for training. The farm involves seed propagation, commercial production of crops and dairy farming.
